Insurance Notice for Soochow University International Students

According to the policy requirements of Ministry of Education of China, international students must purchase insurances following the instructions of China and current university. Anyone who does not purchase related insurance will not be officially admitted or registered; and registered student with overdue payment of insurance will be expelled.

1. Insurance Requirements

1.1 For new degree students and non-degree student (study period equal to or more than six months): After receiving pre-admission letter, international student comprehensive insurance must be purchased (see Insurance Program), and the insurance coverage period must be no less than one year term. The university will check the validity of the insurance before issuing the visa materials.

1.2 For registered degree students: international student comprehensive insurance must be purchased before applying for the extension of residence permit. The expiration date of the purchased insurance must be earlier than the expiration date of the extended residence permit. The university will check for validity of the insurance before releasing the extension materials.

1.3 For non-degree students (study period in China less than six months): either of the following choices will be accepted:

a) Purchase of insurance in home country, ensure that the coverage and services equal to or exceed the insurance specified by the university. (The scanned insurance documents and the Insurance Declaration must be submitted.)

b) Purchase of international student comprehensive insurance.

2. Insurance Service Guidelines

2.1 For Insurance Information: log on www.lxbx.net for insurance items.

2.2 For Medical Service: MUST call 24 hr. service hotline: 400-810-5119 (Chinese/English) before going to the hospital.

2.3 For Insurance Claims: keep the original medical invoices and other documents. Submit the materials to the insurance company as requested.

2.4 For disbursement of hospitalization: contact service hotline for assistance.

3. Important Notes

3.1 Exclusions: anamnesis, congenital disease, chronic diseases (no insurance extension will be provided in the following years.)

3.2 Hospital choices: only regular sections of public hospitals are covered. (International section, special need quarters, etc. are excluded.)

3.3 Before going to the hospital: please call 400-810-5119 to make sure the insurance is applicable.

3.4 Fees: hospitalization deposits will not be reimbursed.

3.5 Claim materials: the original medical record and corresponding receipts of payments must be submitted.
